Personal Profile

Michael A. Radtke was born 1950 in southern Germany. After schooling there, he moved with the family to Mwanza / Tanzania in 1963, where he completed his O-Levels exams in an all-African school, followed by A-Level exams in Nairobi / Kenya.

Having returned to Germany, he was admitted to Stuttgart University by a special merits examination to study architecture, specializing in tropical architecture. The diploma thesis was on the utilisation of timber in the construction industry of Kalimantan/Indonesia, completed in 1978.

His professional career started with L+P Lippsmeier + Partners in Düsseldorf, a company specialized in tropical building and exhibition design and one of the leading German architectural practices in those fields.

MAR Architects was founded in 1991 by Michael A. Radtke, based on more than 10 years of experience in planning and supervising tropical building and trade fair construction.

By 1994 rising demand from public and corporate clients for integrated planning and managing of international trade fair participations, complex show presentations, exhibitions, trade fair buildings and overall exhibition concepts led to the incorporation of MAR Exhibition Management GmbH, to provide complete trade fair, show and event services.

In 1999 a project office was opened in Hanover to service more than 15 projects at the Expo 2000 World Exhibition in Hanover, culminating in the Top Special Award by the German Exhibition Industry Association to MAR Architects and MAR Exhibition Management GmbH for the most effective exhibition project by a German company in the 2000/2001 period.

In the same year MAR Concepts was initiated, dedicated to serve the special requirements of private and public bodies in defining their corporate identities and presence in the public.
